Miu Miu Vintage F/W 2006 Houndstooth Blazer

$995.00

Some jackets are built to be borrowed from a boyfriend’s closet. This one was built to look like you stole it from the headmistress.

From Miuccia Prada’s Fall/Winter 2006 collection for Miu Miu — the season she sent her ingénues down the runway in shrunken tailoring, high button stances, and heritage menswear cloth recut for a narrow frame. The houndstooth is a tricolor weave of black, cream, and a single thread of oxblood that catches the light when it moves. Ninety percent virgin wool, ten percent cashmere, which is why it drapes like a cardigan and holds its shoulder like a blazer.

Three matte black buttons set high at the chest. Rounded patch pockets at the hip, edged in pick-stitching. Notched lapel, nipped waist, and a hem that lands exactly where a 2006 Miu Miu hem should — short enough to show the waistband of whatever you’ve chosen to wear beneath it.

Lowercase woven label, black lining, production code confirming the year. Made in Italy. Twenty years old this season, which makes it vintage by the book and early-Y2K by the calendar — the moment the collector market is circling right now.

How to wear it

The Preppy Academia Uniform. Pleated mini or a knee-length kilt, opaque tights, loafers with a lug sole. A crisp white shirt underneath with the collar sharp over the lapel. Add a thin ribbon at the neck if you’re feeling literal about it.

The Editor’s Version. Over a slim black turtleneck with wide-leg charcoal trousers and a pointed slingback. Let the oxblood thread do the talking — no other pattern.

The After-Dark Layer. This is the one. A black embroidered bustier underneath, boning visible at the neckline, garter straps left unclipped and tucked or clipped to sheer hose under a slip skirt. Button the blazer to the top during the day. Unbutton it at night. The prim jacket and the underpinning that contradicts it is the whole Miu Miu thesis — Miuccia has been dressing that tension since 1993, and it’s never read more current.

The Off-Duty Read. Thrown over a white tank and vintage Levi’s, sleeves pushed to the forearm. Serpentine Star hoops. Nothing else.

Size IT 40 — please check measurements.
